I grew up on the Rideau River in Ottawa, Canada. So much time was spent on the water, in the water or near the water that, for me, it imbues both a sense of freedom and trust. The mokume version was about daylight and differing colours of sunlight on water. This Damascus is reminiscent of the winter and the colours of ice and snow and night colours.
The diamonds, of course, are the clear nights without a cloud in the sky.
