Lake Nkruba is one of many volcanic crater lakes located in Western Uganda. This nature reserve was established in 1991 to protect the ancient forest habitat. It is one of the few crater lakes in the region which has retained its lush forest surroundings and is home to red, black and white colobus monkeys.
Red, palladium white and yellow gold are used to show the myriad colours found with the primates, vegetation and surrounding area. The uneven, circular hoops represent the rough edges of the crater lakes.
